It was about 30 years ago that I became interested in subliminal audio and bought some tapes to try for myself. The results from them were dubious at best, and the results I got I pretty much attributed to the “placebo effect”. I didn’t give up on them though. I kept researching through magazines and at the library (this was pre-internet days) and tried to figure out more about subliminals on my own.
I don’t want you to think I spent all my time researching, because it was simply an ongoing interest of mine. Over the years, I had accumulated a lot of information, mostly in my head, about subliminal audio and the pros and cons and the unknowns. There are patented technologies for making subliminals, but the best I could find was it was the audio technique that was patented, not the results. The patents I’m aware of have nothing to do with effectiveness of making changes in someones life. They have only to do with creating audio with voices mixed in that you can’t hear.
I decided years ago that if I wanted subliminal audio for myself that I thought would work, I’d have to make it myself. So I set out to do just that, and I used common sense in the creation of it along with some technical “stuff” that I learned along the way.
The majority of my subliminal recordings started out as something I produced for myself, had success with, and then wound up offering to my clients and the general public. I combined as much knowledge as I could into their creation by utilizing methods I had learned about affirmations, NLP, hypnosis, the power of suggestion, positive thinking, and more. I combined that with what I have gleaned over the years from how our minds work (even though there are more theories about that than one could learn in a lifetime).
I made all my subliminal audio with a voice track at a volume that I could hear if there wasn’t music or nature sounds masking it. That may sound pretty straight forward, but from my reading and gathering of information, many subliminals that were out there had the actual messages recorded at such a low level, that they were inaudible when played by themselves. To me that was “nuts”. How could my subconscious mind put suggestions to use that my ears couldn’t even pick up.
That brings us to the main point about subliminals. By definition, subliminal means below the threshold. So I decided the threshold here wasn’t the threshold of our capabilities for hearing something, but rather the threshold of our “awareness” of hearing something. That’s what all the techniques, in my estimation, should be about when creating subliminal audio, so that’s what I did.
I created scripts that would not only make suggestions, but that would also evoke “new” information in the listeners mind. This is quite important for more than one reason, and it takes a bit of explanation. So let’s look at a few examples. Suppose someone is flat broke and wants to make a lot of money. The facts of the situation are important here, because the subliminal mind “knows” the person is flat broke. So what type of response do you think that person’s mind would give if I told it, “You are a multi-millionaire.”? It would probably evoke something along the lines of, “Yeah, right.” or “No I’m not”. That would be counter-productive, and would actually reinforce the listener being flat broke (and staying there).
So what if we used the suggestion, “You are becoming a mutli-millionaire”. Sounds good, right? Well, it’s “better”, but the problem is that “becoming” makes it so that it never arrives. It’s much better to make a suggestion such as, “Each day, more money is flowing to me” and combine that with other suggestions such as, “I notice more and more money flowing to me” or “I enjoy money flowing easily and abundantly to me”. Now those three statements will work because they are 1.) true, 2.) positive.
So for me, subliminals work quite effectively when they follow what I have laid out above. There is much more to it than that, but those things are a couple of the basics.
